I’ve always possessed an innate passion for art. As a child, I constantly traced cartoons and illustrations from the newspaper and would make daily trips to the local woodshop to pick up scraps from which I made army tanks, cars, and abstract creations. I never thought of what I was doing as “art:” creating things was simply a part of my nature. It remains so today.

As a professional sculptor, I rely on the simple joy the act of creation has elicited since childhood to design and produce my work. “Create to create” is my philosophy. I make art because I love to make art. This love is what feeds my creative muse and keeps my motivation and energy level high. While my adult works are vastly more complex than my childhood endeavors, I continue to create original works with passion and inspiration.

For me, the creative process is an adventure in inspiration and imagination. I work in a variety of mediums, including stone, cast bronze, painted steel, and copper. My specialty lies at the juncture of these forms and styles: stand-alone three-dimensional forms accented with a variety of bas-relief applications that I create using techniques that vary from representational to contemporary.

I combine these styles and forms in order to create works that are unique in both style and substance, and that speak to the importance of the location, events, and people to that they celebrate. When I accent organic and geometrical basic forms with multiple layers of textures, lines, and shapes, I create a play of light and shadow that makes each sculpture a tactile and visual artwork to enjoy, touch, and explore. My works vary in size from tabletop to monumental, and my designs can be reduced or enlarged to fit the scale of their intended location.
